It is no longer a secret, gospel singer Ray Boltz has publicly come out and announced that he is gay. Boltz told the Washington Blade that he was “tired of living a lie“. On December 26, 2004, the same day the tsunami hit, he told his family that he was gay. He tried to deny his feelings even while growing up and thought that becoming Christian was a way to deal with it. He and his ex-wife Carol were married for 33 years, and together they had four children. But for Boltz, the charade of playing straight led him to become depressed and he sought therapy. He took anti-depressants and at one point had become suicidal.
Boltz retired from Christian music a few years ago, partly because of his struggle with his sexual orientation, but he announced on his website that he has been invited to perform once again at two Metropolitan Community Churches. MCC was founded 40 years ago by Rev. Troy Perry and reaches out to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender communities. Boltz will perform at the Jesus Metropolitan Community Church on September 14th and at the Metropolitan Community Church of Washington D.C. on September 21st.
As a biography, Ray Boltz was born in June 1953, so his age is 55. In 1972, a back injury landed him in the hospital, where he was visited by a minister who invited him to Jacob’s Well, a Christian coffeehouse. Boltz obliged and saw the Fisherman, a gospel group who performed at the coffeehouse. It was there that he eventually met his ex-wife, the former Carol Brammer. They married in 1975. They had four children – a son and three daughters.
Over the next several years, Boltz would release 16 Christian albums. He received three Dove Awards – in 1990 for Song of the Year – “Thank You”, in 1994 for Inspirational Song – “I Pledge Allegiance to the Lamb”, and in 1997 for Special Event Album – “God with Us: A Celebration of Christmas Carols & Classics”.
He currently makes his home in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

I’d love to congratulation Ray on finding the integrity to live his life truthfully and fully as God intended. I know that he is proud of his children and his accomplishments, even though they were all products of an un-natural lifestyle for him. My church and I continue to pray for todays Church to seek God’s guidance in order to stop insisting that gay people deny themselves and live lifestyles that go against their nature. So many broken homes exist today because the church basically forces them to marry, have children and live a lie. We have a long road ahead, but God’s truth will eventually prevail.

this is so sad, it so true we struggle with tendencies our mind wonders , were human, and i believe satan puts lies and we allow ourselves to run with them, and its so sad to hear this, i grew up listening to him with my parents and its so sad how someone can just give up a fight… and sorry but the church doesnt force people to marry, the ppl choose and it and if your going to choose homosexuality, then that goes against the bible and i need not say more

Very deeply saddened by this news. We can all be decieved by sin. I believe homosexuality is a perversion of the pure love God intended to flow between a man and a woman. Homosexuality was NOT God’s creation…it was a distortion brought in by the fall of man. I hope God will lovingly open this man’s eyes to the truth. He does not have to live in the lust of his flesh but can live in complete freedom. The relationship between a man and a woman is a direct reflection of Christ & the church. The bride & groom. God created male and female different and I believe if He meant for people to be gay it would be recorded in scripture as blessed, instead it is NOT. I am deeply sorry for Ray Boltz. We need to understand how deceptive sin can be.

I believe we are all sinners. Someone who over eats, smokers, drinkers, gossips. I believe watching sexual pornography is as well. Acting upon wrong sexual desires is in that same category. I don’t believe any of these things have to do with your salvation though. That is between you and God. So…Ray is in a position now of admitting he is a sinner, and very publically. How difficult is that, just the admission. Now he needs to be asking God what to do about it. God works mysteriously. He doesn’t always do things on our time line. I pray first and foremost that Ray stays on his knees before God and doesn’t get used as a pawn for either side of the issue. Extremism can be sinful to, in either direction.

You know what??? God made Adam and Eve not Adam & Steve!!! I will pray that Ray will find a way to get on the right track and get himself right with God!!! It says in God’s Word that he is getting a one way ticket to Hell if he don’t change his ways! Don’t get me wrong God will still love him but God will not let Ray into His Kingdom the way that he is and what he is doing! I pray that Ray will turn his fleshly ways over to God and get right with God and repent repent repent!!! So said that it is being said to many children especially that the life style you so choose is ok well I know that it is a life style that is not ok. God nor the church does not force no one to marry! If you was going by God’s Word and read it more you would know what is wrong and what is right! Get with the program people! I would much rather go to a place that is peaceful and no more tears or pain then to go to a burning pit of fire and burning flesh and sulfur!!!
