Luke Russert hired as NBC Correspondent

Luke Russert, the son of the late Tim Russert, has been hired as a correspondent-at-large at NBC for the Democratic and Republican National Conventions. Read the story and see a photo and video of Luke here.



Luke Russert will be joining the network to focus on youth issues as he reports from the Democratic and Republican National Conventions. Luke Russert can identify with youth issues since he only recently recently from Boston College with a double major in History and Communications.

In the days following Tim Russert’s death on June 13th, Luke Russert impressed people across the country with his calm and well-spoken remembrances of his father. He conducted himself with great poise during that difficult time. At his father’s memorial service, he gave a moving tribute. His father, Tim Russert, was the NBC Washington Bureau Chief and moderator of “Meet the Press.”

Prior to his father’s unexpected death in June, Luke Russert already had an impressive resume’ of media experience. He and James Carville have co-hosted an XM Satellite Radio sports talk show. Then shortly after his father’s death, he appeared on “Larry King Live�? where he discussed the large number of young people who are interested and becoming involved in this year’s election.

How does Luke Russert feel about this new opportunity at NBC?

“I am extremely humbled and grateful that NBC News is giving me this opportunity,” Russert said. “I believe youth issues will continue to play a significant role during this election and I want to do my part to report them honestly and objectively.”

The election won’t be the end of Luke Russert’s involvement in television either. He will continue to cover youth issues for NBC after November.
