Summer’s hottest action star, James McAvoy, does the cover of Arena. In the magazine James dishes on working with Angelina Jolie, and playing with guns – which he surprisingly didn’t like. He says,
“I don’t really like guns - I’m a bit bad with them. At one point the gun had jammed and I put it down and my finger slipped and it went off. I was like, ‘Ooh.’ There were lots of guns, machine guns, shotguns, handguns, throwing guns - all that kind of stuff. The best bit was catching a gun in mid-air, upside down and firing with my little finger. “There wasn’t a bazooka though. I wished there had been a bazooka!
As far as working with Angelina, he said it was a bit difficult when the scene called for her to hit him in the head, and then that turned to her slamming his head into a table several times. But overall, he loved working with her and learned a lot from her.
“Angelina was cool, she has been in that territory a lot of times and she is familiar with the action stuff. Seeing as I hadn’t done it before, it was good to have someone there that you could use as a litmus test and take advice from.”
I see any movie Angelina Jolie is in, so of course I saw Wanted on opening night and I loved it! To me, it was a cross between Fight Club and Boondock Saints, and I thought James played his character really well. I can’t wait to see his next movie. If you haven’t seen Wanted yet, you should definitely check it out.
