Rapper Jay-Z faced some criticism when it was announced he was headlining the legendary music festival in Glastonbury this year. Fans and artists alike spoke out and Jay-Z gave a performance of “Wonderwall” as a statement to the critics. You can see the video below.

In the video below, Jay-Z takes the stage with a guitar and breaks out into a satirical performance of the hit song from the band Oasis. By all accounts, this was rapper’s way of getting back at lead singer Noel Gallagher for calling Jay-Z the “wrong” choice for the event saying, “I’m not having hip-hop at Glastonbury. It’s wrong.” Jay-Z answered back at the time.

“It’s ridiculous, if we don’t embrace what is new, how do we progress? I’ve never actually experienced anything like that before. It’s 2008, what is that about? That’s such old school thinking, that’s not even how the world thinks anymore. So I was really taken aback (by the criticism).”

Chris Martin from Coldplay defended Jay-Z saying “He’s the best rapper in the world” and it’s just what the world needed. Beyonce was in the audience to show support and despite slow ticket sales, Jay-Z was a hit. Check out more pictures and Jay-Z’s performance below.
