Will Smith claims that his open marriage with wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, is one of the secrets to their long term marriage. See photos, video and Will’s biography here.
Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith have one of Hollywood’s longest marriages - ten years and counting. In a recent interview Smith claims that having an open marriage is one of the secrets to their success.
“Our perspective is, you don’t avoid what’s natural and you’re going to be attracted to people.” he says.
“And if it came down to it, then one would say to the other: ‘Look, I need to have sex with somebody. Now, I’m not going to if you don’t approve of it’.”
Smith explains that they’ve had an open relationship since day one of their marriage. He goes on to list the other things that helps keep their relationship strong: keeping in shape, communication and lots of sex - to name three.
Will says one of the key ingredients to their happiness and mutual devotion is that they’re completely transparent with each other.
“I’m not going to say anything to my buddies that’s any different than what I say to my wife. Our perspective is, you don’t avoid what’s natural and you’re going to be attracted to people.”
Will Smith reports that neither he nor Jada have acted on their attractions, but if either of them do decide they want to sleep with someone else, they will ask for the other’s approval first.
Will Smith was born on September 25, 1968 in Philadelphia. His full name is Willard Christopher Smith, Jr. His father, Willard Christopher Smith, Sr., owned a refrigeration company and his mother, Caroline Bright Smith, worked for the school board. Will was the second of four children. His parents divorced when Will was 13 years old. Will Smith is 6′ 2 1/2 .”
Will Smith’s musical career began when he was twelve years old and started rapping. He quickly earned the nickname “Prince” because of his ability to sweet talk his way out of trouble. In 1986, he joined with his friend, Jeff Townes, and formed the rap duo DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince. The pair won two Grammys and had a series of successful albums until they disbanded in 1993.
Benny Medina, an executive with Warner Brothers, approached Will Smith about starring in a family sitcom about a poor kid living with a rich Beverly Hills family. “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” debuted in September of 1990 and became a hit. It lasted for six seasons. The show provided the opportunity for Smith to gain recognition and fans outside of the rap market. While “The Fresh Prince” was running, Smith began to try his hand in movies. He had roles in “Where the Day Takes You (1992), Made in America (1993) and Six Degrees of Separation (1993). In 1994, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence co-starred in the action-comedy “Bad Boys” in which they played Miami cops. Then in 1996, he starred in the smash hit “Independence Day” followed by “Men In Black” in 1997.
Some other popular Will Smith films are: “Enemy of the State,” “Wild Wild West,” “The Legend of Bagger Vance,” “Ali,” “Showtime,” “Men in Black II,” “Bad Boys II.”
In early 2005, “Hitch” was released, marking Will Smith’s first attempt at carrying a romantic comedy. The film had the biggest opening weekend for a romantic comedy to that date, and it showed Smith’s versatility as an actor.
Will Smith then starred in “The Pursuit of Happyness” in 2006. It was the true story of Charles Gardner, a single dad struggling to provide for his son. Smith received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor for his work in “The Pursuit of Happyness.”
On the personal front, Will Smith married Sheree Zampino in 1992, and they had a son, Willard Christopher Smith III, also known as “Trey.” However, the couple divorced in 1995. Trey appeared in his father’s music video for the 1998 single “Just The Two Of Us”. Smith married actress Jada Pinkett on New Year’s Eve 1997. Together they have had two children: Jaden Christopher Syre (born 1998), his co-star in “The Pursuit of Happyness”, and Willow Camille Reign (born 2000).

If you are religious which it sounds like most of you folks commenting are. They deal with nature, which is where the law of attraction exists. I respect them for their stance, my Queen and I will have 10 years under our belt in April and both have a strong sense of reality. It is possible to be attracted to someone else and want to be intimate with them. Doesn’t mean you will act on it, but at least they are upfront about it. People like us are not limited by christian understanding, which is contradictory in itself, considering some of the heroes of the bible had more than one wife. Basically y’all need to get your mind right and be licentious.

I am a married woman and I love my husband!!I have seen other men that are attractive but I don’t want to have sex with them. That’a for my husband only!!Sex is not only physical attraction, it’s mental and emotional. I would not want to give that much of me to anyone other than my soulmate. My husband enjoys the fact that men are attracted to me and that he’s the only one to get my goodies. And I feel the same way. They should not have stood before God if they were going to alter marriage from the way God intended it to be.I leave you with my marriage motto:
Our love is a gift from God, Our marriage is a gift to God.

Just to agree with the lady above me yes you will find others attractive but you’re not attracted to them. I believe love is like having tunnel vision that only your spouse should be the center of your sexual desire. Althou I love will as a actor and think Jada is sexy I believe this open marriage thing is sortof of a safety net in case one wants to crack under the sexual pressure. Just saying I feel this kinda of a weird topic the fact that one partner has the thought of asking for approval from the other, Nevertheless, I do not recall people calling me “Your Honor” so I can’t judge them.

I commend them on their relationship. Who the heck is anyone to say what they are to be doing with their marriage. At least they are being honest with one another, which is more than I can say for 95% of the rest of the married population. I wish them all the best.

If they are both in agreement then whats the problem? an I agree with the writer above me, at least they are honest, look at the high % of cheaters, and liars, and take a guess how many are “Christian” Even so, it’s believed that jesus and mary were married and had an open marriage, and i’m talking about the real scriptutes, not the crap thats been re written
