Danny Federici was born on January 23, 1950 in New Jersery. He started playing the accordion at the young age of 7 and soon after he mastered classical music and polka. His mother then began booking him for parties.
In high school Danny and Vini Lopez started a band called Child. They choose Bruce Springsteen as their singer. The ten went on to form several other small bands before forming Bruce Springsteen’s E Street band. Federici’s organ, glockenspiel and accordion gave the band a unique flavor and was a key component of the band.
Federici also released a solo album in the early 90’s. In 2007 he took a leave of absence from the band to fight his battle with melanoma. In March of 2008 he played his last show with the band.
Danny lost his three-year battle with cancer on April 17, 2008, at the young age of 58.
