Dawn Wells Is Gilligan’s Mary Ann

Meet Dawn Wells, the actress most well known for playing Mary Ann on Gilligan’s Island, but now becoming a household name again because she was busted for possession of marijuana after her 69th-birthday party. See her biography, photos and video here

On February 29, 2008, Dawn Wells was sentenced to five days in jail, fined $410.50, and placed on probation after she was pulled over for swerving and the sheriff’s deputy found marijuana in the car. Not just marijuana, but “burning marijuana”, which basically means she was smoking in the car.

Dawn Wells Biography

As a biography, Dawn Wells was born October 18, 1938 in Reno, Nevada, so her age is 69. Her measurements are 35-23-34. She graduated from the University of Washington in Seattle in 1960 with a degree in theater after having transferred from Stephens College where she was a chemistry major.

In 1959, Dawn won the Miss Nevada pageant and represented Nevada in the 1960 Miss America pageant. Shortly after, she moved to Hollywood to pursue acting. She had several small guest appearances on television shows like “77 Sunset Strip” and “Bonanza” before landing her most famous role as Mary Ann Summers on “Gilligan’s Island” in 1964.

Since Gilligan went off the air in 1967, Dawn has continued acting, but she also owns her own business, a company that manufactures clothing for people with limited mobility called the Wishing Wells Collection. She also has a skin care line called Classic Beauty.

In 1998, Wells founded the Dawn Wells’ Film Actors Boot Camp, which is run on her ranch in Driggs, Idaho. The camp still continues to this day, coaching amateur actors that want to make the jump to professional status.

As far as Dawn’s ideas about romance and sexiness go, she thinks Barry White is sexy rock music and her ideal guy goes something like this:

“Someone who is bright, intelligent, has a sense of humor, is kind and caring to others, not just me. I like someone who is ambitious, but knows how to relax, loves the outdoors. Handsome is not an issue. Money is not an issue. I want someone who knows who he is and loves what he is doing and does it well. In college and high school, I was always in love with football players…”
