The New York Giants were 12 point underdogs to the New England Patriots, but came home with the 17-14 Super Bowl win as the clock expired on the Patriots undefeated season. The game itself was great, but so was the Half Time Show with Tom Petty. See the video below.

Tom rocked out some classics, which was a perfect prelude into what could arguably be called the greatest half in Super Bowl history. There were four lead changes, the most in Super Bowl history, and a dramatic finish with Eli Manning throwing the winning touchdown pass to Plaxico Burress. Even those that tuned in for the commercials had to have been impressed. Speaking of commercials, a recent Harris Poll found what is probably a not so surprising statistic.

“More than half of those planning to watch the Super Bowl tune in more to see the ads than for the game itself.”

This year the commercials were sub par at best. I laughed twice and then wondered who would be out of a job today after giving the green light to spend $2.7 million for a 30 second spot on the other terrible ads. And don’t worry, if you missed any, they’ll be plaguing our favorite TV shows for the next several months.
