George Lopez Blasts Jay Leno

George Lopez is slightly bitter about not being invited to be a guest on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno since. George calls Jay “the biggest two-faced dude in TV”, saying that Leno played the nice guy by calling Lopez when he had his transplant, and putting “a knife” in his back.

Lopez also suggested that there was a reason behind Conan O’Brien taking over the Tonight Show while Leno was still young enough to host the show, saying,

“The dude’s like the worst interviewer on TV.”

So why get in a tizzy about the situation? If Leno is a horrible interviewer, then wait until Conan O’Brien takes over and invites you on the show, when you won’t have to deal with Leno’s less than stellar interview skills.

I do agree that it’s strange that Leno is leaving so early, but I think Conan will be funnier. Not that it really matters. I work early and don’t watch late night TV, and there will never be another Johnny Carson.

I agree with what Lopez has said about the need for late-night comedy shows to offer more diversity, something which hopefully Lopez’s new show will do. However, I don’t think Leno lacks talent. I think he puts on a decent show – I just think it could be better. He’s not a terrible interviewer, but some of the jokes and sketches are not that great, just filler. But that’s sort of what you have to expect with a show that runs almost every night, even for someone who’s been doing it for almost two decades. I guess they could maybe book more diverse guests as well.
