Eva Longoria was named number one on Maxim’s Hot 100 List in both 2005 and 2006, but that didn’t stop her sisters from hating on her when she was younger. They called her “la prieta fea”, which means the “ugly dark one” in Spanish. She says it made her cry, and she hated being the only one with dark skin and black hair.
But wow have things changed. After graduating from Texas A&M University-Kingsville with a degree in kinesiology, Eva boarded a bus to Los Angeles to participate in a beauty contest, and there she stayed, slowly becoming successful, first with a role on “The Young and the Restless” and eventually landing her biggest role to date as Gabrielle on “Desperate Housewives”. Eva says that acting is the path that God has chosen for her. Of her success, she says,
“There’s nothing like the birth of a hit. We hit the lottery and that rarely happens in television. It was a phenomenon, a global success. We went from D-list to A-list. Marcia (Cross who plays Bree Van De Kamp) said to me: ‘This is going to change your life.’”
Eva was doing the interview to promote her new movie, “Over Her Dead Body”, co-starring Paul Rudd and Jason Biggs, out Friday in theaters.
