Meet Elizabeth Harper, the wife of two-time presidential hopeful, Dennis Kucinich. See her biography and photos here.
Today, January 24, 2008, Elizabeth Harper’s husband, Dennis Kucinich, dropped out of the race for the White House.
As a biography, Elizabeth Harper Kucinich was born on October 22, 1977 in North Ockendon, London, so her age is 30. At 18, she traveled to Agra, India to volunteer at Mother Theresa’s homes for India’s poorest children. Elizabeth returned and completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Religious Studies and Theology at the University of Kent. She followed this degree with a Master’s in International Conflict Analysis.
Before coming to the United States, Elizabeth volunteered with the Mission to Seafarers and the British Red Cross as a refugee caseworker and a support worker for detained asylum seekers.
When Dennis Kucinich was a Congressman for Ohio serving on Capitol Hill on May 4, 2005, Elizabeth visited his office with her boss while working for the American Monetary Institute. She was immediately attracted. The two emailed back and forth for a bit, and then arranged to meet while they were both in New Mexico. They set their wedding date for only a few months later, August 21, 2005. Neither has found their age difference (Dennis is now 61) to be a problem.
Elizabeth and Dennis’ marriage has caused a bit of controversy for the Democratic presidential hopeful. Interviewers focus on things like Elizabeth’s tongue stud, rather than Kucinich’s foreign policy. I doubt it was the controversy, but Kucinich has now dropped out of the presidential race; the announcement is scheduled to be made tomorrow.
