On January 22nd, 2008, His body was discovered by his housekeeper and a masseuse with whom he had a regularly-scheduled appointment. He was naked on the bed with pills lying all around him.

The New York Times originally reported that the apartment belonged to Mary-Kate Olsen, and that Mary-Kate was reportedly in California at the time. However, TMZ subsequently reports that the apartment did not belong to the actress.

As a biography, Heath Ledger was born April 4th, 1979, in Perth Australia. He left school at the age of 16 to pursue an unlikely acting career in Sydney. He became known as a 6′1″ hunk which explains some of the movie roles he was given.

His first big breakthrough was as a gay bicycle rider in the movie “Sweat.” He went on to star in “Blackrock,” “Two Hands,” and countless other films. He will be remembered mostly for his epic performance in “Brokeback Mountain.” in which he played another gay character.

Despite his acting in his share of gay-themed films, Heath Ledger was not gay. He has a two-year old daughter named Matilda Rose Ledger from his romantic relationship with Michelle Williams, an actress who he met on the set of Brokeback Mountain.

He was constantly fighting his typecast as a teen hunk, which caused him to accept lots of character acting roles in later films. Like a lot of teenage actors, he seemed like he was deeply disturbed.
