Meet Kira Plastinina, a teenager touted as “the world’s youngest fashion designer.” See her biography, photos, and video below.
Kira is only 15-years-old but has conquered Russia and is now opening stores in the US. New York City will be home to the first Kira Plastinina store arriving in March with ten other stores slated to open in Manhattan and Los Angeles. A stylist for Glamour magazine weighed in on her clothing.
“I think she has excellent, very cheerful clothes for teenage girls, and they are fairly high-quality.�?
As a biography, Kira Plastinina is the daughter of a wealthy Russian businessman, Sergei Plastinin. He is the co-founder of Wimm-Bill-Dann, Russia’s largest dairy and juice producer. Her father’s wealth has been both a blessing and curse for Kira in her attempts to break into the fashion industry. Rumors suggest she is just the “figurehead” of the company, but Kira insists she is behind all of the designs.
“I’m always coming to work, and my thoughts are constantly absorbed in work. I always think about work, day and night. Sometimes I even draw designs in school.�?
The company and Kira Plastinina brand were founded by Kira’s father, but he did name her chief designer. Their partnership seems to be working as he handles the commercial side while Kira runs the creative side. Kira manages this while attending the Anglo-American School in Moscow. She eventually would like to continue her studies at the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London.
If her current stores are any indication, Kira is well on her way to a great career. Her chain of stores are in Russia, the Ukraine, and Kazakhstan with over 40 locations. Kira is also branching out to television. She will serve as the official designer for the show ‘Star Factory,’ which is similar to ‘American Idol.’
If you think her story sounds strikingly similar to Paris Hilton, it may not surprise you that they our friends. Kira has called Hilton her “style muse,” which has caused some controversy. My favorite quote from an obvious non-fan of both Paris and Kira was:
“Seriously her clothes would leave the sluts freezing in cold Russian weather … she’s no other than a Paris Hilton clone sans the trouble with law.”

OMG, the bows! they look like wings, and she puts them on everything. none of her stuff looks very wearable, which probably comes from having paris hilton as a role model. definately a “daddy’s-little-rich-girl” designer working off of money and no actual talent.

no talant!!!,just a big Daddys wallet!!!..cheap quality MADE IN CHINA…….would not recommend to my 16 y.o daughter..Kira has no style, no talant!…just a Daddys money!!!!!……….nothing special FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE!!!

i dont really like her clothes i think it stinks and she doesnt knw wat she is doin as far as im concerned i would never put my daughter in her clothes as they make no sence to me watso eva and and they are just normal clothes i dotn see the unique ness avout them

I don’t see what the hype is about. The first set of clothes look like t-shirts with scarfs around them. The show looks way more costly then the clothes. I admire that fact that she is young. She can only go up from here.

I am 14 and am also a fashion designer. i find her clothing very immature, boring, and quite frankly UGLY. there is nothing special about her clothing and she wont be taken seriously as a high fashion designer.

i think most of her designs are really cute…she’s only sixteen so she’s still working up to it. would u want bad comments on your designs if u were a designer?

0:25, inappropriate, especially for someone at such a young age. & what’s with the wings. Ugly clothing. I know she’s young, but if you’re actually going to be a designer, I think you should have a lot more talent than this. Sorry, but it’s the truth.

I just happened upon the Soho(Manhattan)Kira Plastinina store and was pleasantly surprised. I had never before heard of the designer, but loved everythinhg I saw! If only I had more money to spend! I watched the runway clip and agree that what she presented initially in the clip was not entirely appealing, but what she has in the stores is so cute! I loved the tees and the raincoats the most. I bought a few things that caught my eye that I thought I had to have right away. I wasn’t a big fan of the sales people working there, but that was not that big of a deal. Honestly, check out her stores. Everything she had stocked was fresh and prefectly affordable for those NOT looking to go into outrageous debt when shopping at other designer shops (like me). Also there were a variety of colors for some designs so if you liked one style you had your pick of colors to your taste. So far I’ve had nothing but compliments for my purchases from others on the street and requests for the location of the shop itself.
You guys are complaining about the wings in the clip? SERIOUSLY don’t you know that stuff is just for effect? What about Victoria Secret and others doiong the same stuff. Who cares if she’s only 15, good for her for going after her dream. The line is meant for young adults and teens. I’m 21 years old. I loved it…oh and I also liked the soundtrack playing in the store! I loved Ladytron playing in the background while shopping! =)
