The Associated Press has written Britney Spears’ obituary, according to Us Weekly, just in case. I guess they want to be prepared, but I think it’s just wrong.
AP entertainment editor Jesse Washington had this to say in defense of the article,
“We are not wishing it, but if Britney passed away, it’s easily one of the biggest stories in a long time. I think one would agree that Britney seems at risk right now. Of course, we would never wish any type of misfortune on anybody and hope that we would never have to use it until 50 years from now…but if something were to happen, we would have to be prepared.”
I mean, what’s the time crunch here? You’re the AP - you’ll still get people to print your article. I just think it’s a bad idea to write an obituary for someone who’s still alive, unless it’s like Tom Cruise in “Cocktail” where its a college assignment and he’s writing the obituary about himself.
In other Britney news, TMZ claims that, in addition to other problems, she has multiple personality disorder. One of those personalities is “the British girl”, during which Britney apparently speaks as if she was born in England. Apparently she pulled this one when she failed to show for her deposition and has no recollection of it.
Really? “The British girl” is one of her personalities? I’m sure the girl is struggling with a variety of things at the moment, but a second personality that calls herself “the British girl” just can’t be one of them. Maybe it’s just me, but that girl is not going on holiday to some swish island. Then you can call her on her mobile and she’ll shout “brilliant!” That’s right, I speak British.
