Meet Jeff Conaway, the one time ’80s star of “Grease” and “Taxi” who is making news again by starring in VH1′s latest celebreality show, “Celebrity Rehab” with Dr. Drew. See his biography and photos here.
Jeff Conaway stars on VH1′s “Celebrity Rehab”, which premiered tonight, January 10, 2008. He is back again for season 2, and this time his girlfriend Vicki seeks help from the good Dr. Drew. Confessions of not only drug abuse, but also domestic abuse, will come out this season, as Jeff tells Drew that Vicki has physically abused him.
As a biography, Jeff Conaway was born October 5, 1950, in New York City, New York, so his age is 57. His birth name is Jeffery Charles William Michael. His measurements are 6′ 1 1/2″. John attended NYU. He has been married to Kerri Young since August 17, 1990, his third marriage.
Conaway began acting on Broadway at the age of 2. He made it big when he landed the roles like Kenickie in “Grease” and Bobby in “Taxi”. In “Grease”, Jeff had to stoop to make John Travolta appear taller. Conaway has continued acting throughout the ’80s and ’90s, though his roles were less well known and typically direct-to-video.
Now Jeff Conaway is on “Celebrity Rehab”, a show where Dr. Drew from “Loveline” helps celebrities with their addiction problems. Conaway had dabbled in VH1 reality shows once before, participating in Celebrity Fit Club 3 for a few weeks until he left for rehab.
Though Dr. Drew said the show helped a lot of people, some viewers aren’t convinced in the show’s quality.
“With cameras installed in just about every nook of the facility, VH1 milks each cringe-worthy moment. … Given the nature of recovery, an addict needs to be in a safe place to thrash out the issues underlying their disease. … Some TV shows make it fun to play a voyeur. This series will leave you feeling dirty. For those who enjoy this type of programming, there’s no rehab that can help – yet.”
On the premiere episode, Conaway was taken to the ER in an ambulance. His withdrawals became too severe and Dr. Drew had to send him to a medical facility.

I was so shocked, sickened, and saddened to see Jeff on TV last night, my first time watching celebrity rehab. I almost started crying. I used to be in love with that guy, when he was on Taxi he was the hottest thing…
now look at him, what a mess, and he aint coming back. Sad. I hope enough people see this, and show their kids what can happen to your looks, health, financial situation, marraige, job, I could go on for a while.
And Bridget Neilsen! OMG she looks terrible too, although not quite to the extent Jeff does.
LEARN FROM THIS PEOPLE!!!

I’ve been watching celeb rehab. It’s good to see these folks trying. Addiction is very hard to over come and I wish them all luck. Admitting it to yourself is half the battle so to be possitive you must think you have it half beat. To all you folks good luck!!!

I am pulling and praying for Jeff Conaway. Everyone was all about enjoying his show and movies. Let’s not forget he’s as human as anyone else. Of all of them there, and sadly 5 are very young, let’s hope his pain will be relieved and he finds his way. If nothing else, he will be an inspiration to the case for “tenacity”, in another attempt at rehabilitating himself. Some people think repeat “admissions” are a sign of failure. I believe it’s a sign of desperation. In this case, he wants to feel his life, his soul and the world as he once knew. CLEAN! Hang in there, Jeff!
