“The Eye” Movie
On February 1, 2008, “The Eye” releases nationwide. It stars Jessica Alba in her second horror flick - “The Eye” movie comes out only two months after “Awake” bombed at the box office. Will this scary flick fair better?
The tagline reads,
“How can you believe your eyes when they’re not yours?”
In the film, Jessica Alba receives an eye transplant that allows her to see the supernatural world. The girl then becomes determined to find out what happened to the eyes’ previous owner. It’s a remake of an earlier Hong Kong film “Jian Gui”.
Renee Zellweger was originally set to play the lead role until Paramount dropped the film. When Lionsgate picked it up, Tom Cruise and his production partner Paula Wagner gave the role to Alba. These discussions apparently began the rumor that Tom Cruise was auditioning girlfriends, a role that eventually went to Katie Holmes.
