Tyra Banks recently moved production of both of her shows, “The Tyra Banks Show” and “America’s Next Top Model”, to New York, and rumors are flying that the reason for the switch from Los Angeles was so that she could be closer to her boyfriend, John Utendahl. Tyra denies the rumors and says she’s insulted by the idea.
As a biography, John Utendahl grew up in Queens, New York. His measurements are 6′3″. His age is 50.
John received his Bachelor’s Degree from Long Island University and his MBA from Columbia University.
Utendahl is a businessman based in New York. He is the chairman of Utendahl Capital Management LP, the largest African-American owned investment bank in the US. Founded in 1992, it was the first minority-owned firm that didn’t specialize in municipal bonds. The company specializes in fixed income asset management for institutional investors. They have offices in both New York and Orlando.
Before opening UCM, John was a Vice President at Merrill Lynch from 1986 until 1992. Prior to that he was a corporate bond trader at Salomon Brothers.
Utendahl is active in the community, serving on the boards of the Hope program for the homeless and the Pratt Institute, which assists gifted minority students.
Utendahl was previously married to Phyllis Hollis, a mortgage bond specialist on Wall Street. John and Tyra began dating in July 2007, and shortly after Tyra moved production of her shows to New York. She maintains that it’s not about John, though. She told Essence magazine,
“I’m very insulted by that rumor. I employ a lot of people; their livelihoods rest on my shows. The move to New York was a decision I made with my manager. It was not about a man.�

Tyra, you go girl. I am so happy for you and john. What a gorgeous and very ambitious couple. I love watching america’s next top model and the tyra banks show. I too face a lot of criticism and it makes feel so much stronger and better that people who judge and look down on you must lack the guidance and the love that you and i received from our parents. Ill always be your #1 fan and keep believing in yourself. You deserve everything life has to give. You are so giving and you give good advice and you care.
