Meet Laura Okmin, a sports anchor who became more popular when she reported from the sidelines of the 2008 Fiesta Bowl. See her biography and photos here.
Tonight’s Fiesta Bowl had a new sideline reporter: Laura Okmin.
As a biogrpahy, Laura Okmin’s birthday is on July 10.
She received her bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Kansas where she was an honors student. Okmin began working in sports right away, becoming a field producer for ESPN in 1993. From there she worked at several local stations producing the sports segments in Montgomery, Alabama; Chattanooga, Tennessee; and Chicago, Illinois. In 1996, Okmin joined CNN/Sports Illustrated working the midwest region from Chicago.
In 2003, Okmin began appearing on the show “Totally Football” where she still works.
On January 2, 2008, Laura appeared as the sideline reporter for the Fiesta Bowl between West Virginia and Oklahoma. And the fans thought she was looking good. Although some think she’s got big hair. Last year she handled the Orange Bowl in Miami.
Okmin has also hosted “Home Field Advantage”, a show that tries to find American community youth sports facilities in states of extreme disrepair, and then remakes them into “top-notch” sports centers for kids in need.

I beg to differ. First of all, aren’t reporters supposed to wear NEUTRAL colors? This woman was certainly wearing yellow, a biased color, which was simply appalling. Furthermore, she didn’t appear between WV and OK, she paraded along the WV sideline basically the entire game. I will be severely disappointed to see her commentate on another game if she keeps this up. Talk about rude.

I saw the interview. I thought she looked great!!! Her questions were even better. She is a real pleasure to watch.
I also noticed that she has written a children’s book called “Mommy has Cancer.” What a wonderful thing for young kids to have when dealing with those life issues.
Good luck, ontinued success and stay the course. Don’t let these people, who write negative opinions, ever get to you!!!
