Sacha Baron Cohen: “I Amma No More Borat”

It’s a sad day in Borat land…Sacha Baron Cohen has announced that he will no longer be playing his alter egos, Borat and Ali G, as they are recognizable everywhere. Unfortunately, it gives no choice for Cohen but to say goodbye to his characters, since he’s no longer able to ambush “unsuspecting victims“.

He told the Daily Telegraph:

“When I was being Ali G and Borat, I was in character sometimes 14 hours a day, and I came to love them, so admitting I am never going to play them again is quite a sad thing. It is like saying goodbye to a loved one.”

Cohen created the lovable chracters Ali G (Alistair Leslie Graham) and Borat (Borat Sagdiyev) over 10 years ago and both of the characters appeared on HBO on the Da Ali G Show . With the release of the Borat film in November 2006, the character was exposed to a much wider audience. He even told NPR in January of this year, “”I think the days of me going undercover are probably over.”

You can see Sacha Baron Cohen in the newly released Sweeney Todd, in which he co-stars with Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter.

The character of Borat, played brilliantly by Sacha Baron Cohen is no more. The comedian said that he will no longer appear as Borat. “When I was being Ali G and Borat I was in character sometimes 14 hours a day and I came to love them, so admitting I am never going to play them again is quite a sad thing,” Cohen said.

Singer and Goodwill Ambassador of Liechtenstein, AL WALSER, was interviewed by Borat in a rare appearance before the character was laid to rest. After the interview, Borat said he would like to record a song with Al Walser, the first bi-racial citizen from Liechtenstein.

AL has been in Hollywood recording a new album and helping to enhance the relationship between the U.S. and Liechtenstein. His home country has been a popular escape for the rich and famous and he invited Borat and even Presidential Candidate Barack Obama for a visit. No word yet on whether or not Borat will be resurrected to make the trip.
