16-year-old Jamie Lynn Spears has gotten pregnant with her boyfriend of less that a year, Casey Aldridge. Casey is 19. The couple met at church and have been living together. WHAT!?
Jamie currently stars on the Nickelodeon show “Zoey 101�?, they have yet to say if they are going to fire her but they released this statement,
“We respect Jamie Lynn’s decision to take responsibility in this sensitive and personal situation. We know this is a very difficult time for her and her family, and our primary concern right now is for Jamie Lynn’s well being.”
Jamie and her mother are spilling all the details about her pregnancy in the next issue of OK! Magazine.
She is so young. I hope pregnancy suits her better than it did her sister. Those girls must not believe in contraceptives.
UPDATE:After giving birth to daughter Maddie, Casey and Jamie plan to wed in fall 2008.

If Casey Aldridge is 19 and Jamie is 16… is it legal for him to knocked her up ? And if it isn’t legal, how come everyone is acting like it’s no big deal ?

for the record its NOT legal in EITHER state the Spears’ Live.
in California its a Felony and in Louisiana its a Misdemenor.

The age of consent is 18, with a misdemeanor if the minor has less than 3 years of difference with the major. Penalties increase if the minor is under 14 and the major is above 21

Misdemeanor carnal knowledge of a juvenile is committed when a person who is seventeen years of age or older but less than nineteen years of age has sexual intercourse, with consent, with a person who is fifteen years of age or older but less than seventeen years of age, when the victim is not the spouse of the offender, and when the difference between the age of the victim and age of the offender is greater than two years.

it’s not illegal if the parents are okay with it. everyone knows that it’s a big deal, but the family has to act like it’s not…b/c they know all the mayhem that’s coming to them. it’s not like she’s the only 16 year old in the world who’s gotten pregnant…

PS if you think im WRONG, check out the case of Genarlow Wilson, he was 17 and got oral sex from a 15 year old and got convicted and sentenced to 10 years in jail, which got overturned by a 4-3 vote, which means 3 judges thought he should serve 10 years, but her SERVED TWO YEARS for getting oral sex, which was illegal….but the father of her kid who clearly broke the law,well, we all know HE wont get ANY jail time.

I’m guessing Jamie Lynn didn’t consult her attorney before releasing the statement about getting pregnant. Because her boyfriend could definitely be brought up on charges depending on which state they were in at the time of conception.
That baby may be growing up with its father behind bars. But I’m guessing because of this family’s celebrity status, the District Attorney won’t file any charges.

I don’t know CA law, but it seems to me that a 19-year-old having sex with a 16-year-old is grounds for statutory rape. Will this boy be criminally prosecuted, or will his celebrity status save him?

Why the hell are you people worried about whether or not charges are gonna be filed? And obviously he is not a rapist, as Jamie was obviously willing. We are in America in 2007 almost 2008…teen pregnancies are as common now as the cold.

Genarlow Wilson, he was 17 and got oral sex from a 15 year old, but the difference in this case is that Genarlow was black and the girl was white. There is a double standard in law when black and whites are involved.
