The newest members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will be Madonna and John Mellencamp. Leonard Cohen, the Ventures, and the Dave Clark Five will also be in the class of 2008 headed to Cleveland. This is the first year Madonna is eligible for induction. It’s hard to believe it’s been 25 years since her debut single, “Everybody,” was released.

The Beastie Boys were nominated and eligible for the first time but, along with Donna Summer, did not get in. The Ahmet Ertegun Award, previously the non-performer category, will be presented to songwriter and producer team Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff.

The induction ceremony will take place on March 10th, 2008 at New York’s Waldorf Astoria. You can see the list of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees from the past ten years after the jump.
