Chelsea Clinton made her first appearance on the Presidential Campaign trail to support her mother Hillary Clinton in Des Moines, Iowa today. You can see Chelsea’s biography and photos below.
Chelsea Clinton’s appearance was a political move in the closing stretch of the Democratic Presidential nominations. The Clinton campaign was “fearful of being overshadowed” because thousands were expected to rally for Barack Obama and his famous supporter, Oprah Winfrey.
Chelsea Victoria Clinton is no stranger to the political spotlight, living in the White House beginning at age 12 while her father, Bill Clinton, was president. While in Washington, Chelsea attended Sidwell Friends School graduating in 1997. She participated in several extra curricular activities, including soccer and ballet. Chelsea played on the varsity soccer team and trained at the Washington School of Ballet performing in the Nutcracker.
After high school, Chelsea attended college at Stanford University and graduated in four years with a degree in History. Chelsea followed in her dad’s footsteps doing her post-graduate work at University College at Oxford. Unlike her father, she was not a Rhodes Scholar but did earn a master’s degree in international relations. Following Oxford, Chelsea joined the consulting firm McKinsey & Company. Three years later she went to work for the New York hedge fund, Avenue Capital Group, as an investment analyst.
Chelsea has made an impact in the pop culture world, too. Twice she was named one of People magazine’s “25 Most Intriguing People” in 1996 and 2002. Her appearance on the February 1999 cover generated more reader mail than any other cover story in People history. On the man front, Chelsea was linked to Ian Klaus but broke up in 2005. She is currently dating longtime friend Marc Mezvinsky. Marc works at Goldman Sachs and graduated from Stanford with Chelsea.
A couple notes of trivia on Chelsea. She is nearly 5’10″ tall and her name came from one of her mother’s favorite songs, “Chelsea Morning” by Joni Mitchell. She is also a vegetarian and was named “Gutsiest Girl in America” by Jane magazine in 1999.
