The celebrity entertainment world is stampeding tonight to the sound of drunken elephants. Did Paris Hilton take up the plight of binge-drinking elephants, or did she not? We say it is a hoax.

Early in the day, the Associated Press reported that Paris Hilton was deeply concerned about elephants drinking too much alcohol in India. Something tells me that Bollywood could have done without the socialite’s help.

Paris was quoted as saying ” “The elephants get drunk all the time. It is becoming really dangerous. We need to stop making alcohol available to them.”

But now, so late in the day, after all the ecological concern was raised we have this late breaking correction. The AP has retracted their story after her publicist denied that Paris Hilton ever said anything about drunken elephants in India.

So where is the truth? If drunken elephants are a problem, should it take Paris Hilton to focus our attention? If they are not a problem, did Paris say something stupid anyway? Only Paris and the elephants know for sure.
