Jessica Nicole Trisko (Miss Earth Canada) beat out over 87 other contestants for the Miss Earth 2007 title at the University of the Philippines Theater in Diliman, Quezon City Sunday night. This is the seventh year since the inception of the Miss Earth beauty pageant, which serves as a platform for environmental advocacy.
As a biography, Jessica was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia. She is of Filipino and European heritage, her mother hailing from Manila. How proud her mother had to be to see her daughter crowned Miss Earth 2007 in her native country.
Jessica attended Eric Hamber Secondary School and graduated in 2001. She moved to Montreal, Quebec at 17 to attend university and currently is in the Ph.D. program at McGill University researching her doctoral dissertation – “Blood Money: Foreign military aid and repression in Asia’s weak states?. Looks like she’ll have to put her studies on hold while she begins her reign as Miss World.
Jessica is no stranger to the fashion world, as she started modeling at 15 years of age. She was even a contestant on the reality TV series, “Supermodels” back in 2001.
