West’s mother passed away this week. Our sympathies to the entire family. Donda West clearly adored Kanye West’s girlfriend. She told People magazine, “The best thing that I love about her [Alexis Phifer] is that she loves my son. You can’t beat that.â€? That tells me a lot about what a nice mother-in-law she would have been. Too bad she did not survive to see their wedding.

As a biography, Alexis has been Dante West’s fiance since 2002 although the relationship has been described as on again, off again. The latest news is that the couple will be married by the end of 2007. Let’s hope so for mom’s sake. They say that there are girls for hot dating and girls for taking home to mom. In Alexis, Dante seems to have all bases covered.

She is a professional clothing designer with her own clothing line. She is a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) in California. Her line of “Ghita” fashion launched in 2005 and has been a hit on the runway shows. Her website is Ghita.
