Dakota Fanning graces the cover of Town & Country and confirms she and her boyfriend, model Jamie Strachan, have split after nearlt three years together. She also opens up about what it’s like to start dating again.
She rose to fame as a child star, just seven years old when she made her big screen debut in ‘ I Am Sam’ oppoosite Sean Penn in 2001. She continued to draw notice in movie after movie from Uptown Girls to The Cat in the Hat to Hide and Seek to ‘Charlotte’s Web’ among many others. Now, at 22, she stars in ‘American Pastoral’ opposite Ewan McGregor — who also makes his directorial debut — a screen adaptation of the bestselling Philip Roth novel of the same title.
In her cover story interview with Town & Country she confirms that she is no longer dating model Jamie Strachan, who, at age 35, was 13 years old than she.
She declined to go into details and told the publication, “I was raised by very traditional Southern parents with Southern manners. You don’t air your dirty laundry to people that aren’t your family or your friends. Why would I ever want to portray myself as anything other than together?”
As for the prospect of meeting someone else, she revealed she is, understandably, no fan of dating. She said, “”The way I prefer to meet someone is through a friend … [They’re] most likely not a freak.”
She went on to say,”I find dates, in general, horrific. We have to sit there and ask these questions and pretend to eat a meal, and it just feels so stiff.”
She went on to speak of how much she cherishes her privacy, despite having grown up in the spotlight. She said, “”I’m a very private person.” Elaborating, she added, “I’ve been thinking lately about how much do I care what other people’s preconceived notions of me are. They definitely exist. They always will, to an extent, because I’ve been acting for 16 years already and I’m 22.”
