Brie Larson Diet and Fitness Plan Revealed

Brie Larson’s diet and fitness routine is revealed! The Oscar-winning actress put on 15 pounds of muscle for her Oscar-winning role in ‘Room’ and her nutritionist details the daily menu and workouts that led to success.

Brie Larson has risen to fame with her portrayal in ‘Room’ of a woman kidnapped, held captive and forced to bear and raise her captor’s child, a stunning, critically acclaimed movie based on the international bestseller of the same title by Irish author Emma Donoghue.

Recently at Comic-Con it was announced she’s been cast as ‘Captain Marvel’ and as such she’s the first woman to have the starring role in a Marvel comic universe movie. So clearly her muscle building days are likely not over!

Brie Larson said of the physical transformation, “”I learned so much, but I think strength became the biggest one.” Continuing, she said, “There are many ways that I learned about the strength. One was gaining 15 lbs. of muscle, and I was able to lift things that I never felt in my life I would be able to do.”

She said of the fitness routine, “”Every other day, I worked with this incredible trainer, and she would have me lift extreme weights over my head.” She added, “Just having that, being able to deadlift before I went to work every morning, gave me this mental change that I never had before.”

But of course, the workouts are only one part of the equation, we now have the scoop on the diet that enabled her muscle building success!

She worked with celebrity nutritionist, Dr. Philip Goglia who spoke with People magazine about the routine that the star diligently followed. He said that prior to those morning workouts that Larson describes, she fueled herself with a tablespoon of almond butter and a tablespoon of all-fruit jam or preserve.

Goglia explained the rationale, saying, “The most recent science has shown that a little bit of fat and a little bit of simple sugar will actually increase intensity rate while you train early in the morning … and allow you to still continue to train and burn fat.” He added, “That really does start your engine for you.”

As for post workout fuel, she had a protein shake blended with a tablespoon of almond butter and fruit or, alternately a whole egg in place of the almond butter.

He also outlined the rest of the day’s meals and the two snacks between breakfast and lunch and between lunch and dinner which are key to success, in curbing the appetite.

Another notable element is his recommendation of six to eight ounces of fatty fish alongside non-starchy vegetables for dinner. He said, “The purpose of the fish and their omegas is to promote the reduction of inflammation and a deep REM sleep.”

You can see the full diet plan here. For those familiar with bodybuilding it’s all quite familiar but Goglia does a service in educating the general public. It’s achievable and not at all extreme or fad-dish. It’s just what gets results in the short term, without causing harm.

Yes, and far better than diet’s we’ve heard of in the past, including the infamous Beyonce maple syrup diet also known as the lemonade master cleanse (although these days, when we think of Beyonce and her “Lemonade” album we get quite a different connotation!).

So once again, no real tricks here, just adhering to a diet and working out diligently is what gets results, and Brie Larson is but the latest example of a Hollywood star pulling off a successful transformation.
