When a television actress like Alice Ghostley passes, the time is right to celebrate her life. See her photos and biography. She most famously played the character of Esmeralda on Bewitched.
Alice Ghostley died on September 21, 2007, at the age of 81, in Studio City, California. She lost a battle with cancer and suffered from strokes. Read the story.
This is a sneaky photo of Alice Ghostley’s sister on television, Elizabeth Montgomery. We hope that a comedic actress like Alice would appreciate the joke. Her real pictures are below.
She is most famous for playing Esmeralda on Bewitched in the hit television program as Elizabeth Montgomery good witch sister. On TV she also received an Emmy nomination for her role on Designing Women. She played “Cousin Alice” on Mayberry R.F.D.
But Ghostley was a versatile stage actress. She won a Tony award for the “The Sign in Sidney Brustein’s Window.” She played with Julie Andrews in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s production of “Cinderella.”
She had parts in many famous movies as a character actress including “The Graduate,” “Gator,” “Grease, and “To Kill a Mockingbird.”
To continue her biography, Alice Ghostley was born on August 14, 1926 in Missouri but grew up in Oklahoma. I always thought there was something farm-girl about her when I watch those Bewitched reruns.
Her husband was Felice Orlandi, also an actor, who passed in 2003.
