Lindsay Lohan reflects upon her past and opening up about turning 30. Find out what the former ‘Mean Girls’ and ‘Parent Trap’ star says of her troubled years, the new book she’s writing and her future plans.
It’s a rare interview from the actress who turns 30 on July 2. Living in London now for the past few years, she’s not been in movie-comeback mode, or putting her life on display as she did with the OWN docu-series for Oprah Winfrey. But there’s nothing like a milestone birthday, especially when one rose to fame as a child star, to draw curiosity.
She tells ‘Vanity Fair’ how she feels about turning the big 3-0, saying, “I am actually celebrating it—I thought I would be hiding when I realized I was turning 30! It’s different because the way I live my life is different, which I am very grateful for.”
But, as noted, in much of the interview, she’s asked about her tabloid-headline-making days of the past decade which have included seven stints in rehab and even a few days spent in jail, as she has struggled with alcohol and drug addiction.
She said, “I wouldn’t call things regrets, per se. I can’t turn back time.” She went on to say, “But if I could, I would have listened more to my mother and gone back home to N.Y.C. earlier in life and chosen my friends more wisely.”
Asked what advice she might give herself back in the ‘Parent Trap’ days that launched her career as a child star, she said in part, “Pay attention to the people you surround yourself with and make sure they have honest intentions.”
Lindsay Lohan also confirmed rumors of that she is writing a book and revealed and what readers can expect. She said, “I am very excited to share my personal experiences in life and how to overcome obstacles. I hope that my words will connect with those who need some guidance when [or] if they are in a tough place.”
Continuing, she added, “I am grateful that I have a voice, which I can now feel comfortable using as a platform to let people know that we all have ups and downs in life, and we can all come up from the downs if we get in touch with our inner self and spiritual side.”
Asked about her future plans, she said she envisions, “Making more films, writing my book, starting my charity, working with children a lot. Maybe having some of my own soon—after I get some movies done, first.”
As celebrity watchers know, she recently confirmed her relationship with 23-year-old Russian businessman Egor Tarabaso and the couple has been walking the red carpet together as of late (pics below). The couple, reportedly is engaged. Lohan didn’t discuss the relationship, but from her Instagram feed, the fans and the curious alike are left to draw conclusions.
