Sienna Miller graces the cover of ‘Porter’ magazine and opens up about her ex-fiance Jude Law and how she coped iwth the cheating scandal and ensuing tabloid coverage. She reveals how despairing she became and what she did to overcome and bounce back.
The photo shoot is stunning, and that along is generating quite a buzz but now alongside with her frank remarks about the dissolution of her relationship with Jude Law, and it’s all gone viral. After their high profile as Hollywood’s hot new royal couple, suddenly there was the nanny scandal.
It may be a familiar story, but, as always, these are real people, not celluloid entities for our amusement. After the couple’s second and final split, in 2011, the now 34-year-old Miller dated and became engaged to Tom Sturridge — father of her three-year-old daughter Marlowe — from whom she has also split.
And in a rare interview Sienna Miller, as if to make up for lost time she has plenty to say. She says, of her ex-fiance, “We don’t see each other that much. I care about him enormously.”
She goes on reveal the depths of the emotional pain of those days when the world saw numerous stories of Jude Law’s affair with the nanny which eventually prompted him to issue a public apology. She said, “Thank God I actually survived it. I watched that Amy Winehouse documentary and, not to compare myself, but there was footage that… it was a similar time, and you just lose your mind.”
Continuing, she elaborates, adding, “It basically perpetuates all the behavior that it wants. It creates what it can feed off. It’s a really toxic animal. So you start to implode and then there’s more footage and you can’t help but… I couldn’t cope but it’s resilience that kicked in. And no heroin addiction, thank God.”
As for how she was able to move on with her life, Sienna Miller says it was with the help of therapy, calling it “f–king amazing.”
In explaining, she says, “It’s terrifying, but extraordinary. It’s 10 years of therapy in a week. I got back a week ago. It takes a while to settle. It’s focused on Freudian analysis, which is basically how behavior patterns are all learned, how you can trace them all back to either parents or surrogates, then you kind of let go and examine who you would have been if you hadn’t taken on all these negative traits. There’s an immense amount of space in my head and there is no f–ing noise in it for the first time. All that noise has just gone.”
As for her state of mind, she opens up and speaks with disarming candor, saying, “‘I just got to a point where I just felt… I didn’t understand why I was, I couldn’t dig myself out, I couldn’t make decisions, I felt pretty assaulted by life and not in control.”
