It’s been quite a while since Katy Perry gave an interview. But then again, the release of her most recent album, ‘Prism’ was nearly three years ago. The album, famously, announced via a gold semi-truck traveling the country, went on to produce quite a truckload of hits including ‘Roar,’ which has become an anthem of triumph and survival that’s been covered in viral videos by the likes of children with cancer and others facing steep challenges. And then, too, there was the Super Bowl halftime show that got mixed reviews to say the very least. Oh, and not to mention being the widely-speculated singer who inspired Taylor Swift’s ‘Bad Blood.’

Now, she’s been in the news of late over speculation about her love life and only recently confirmed, via Instagram photo (here) that she’s dating Orlando Bloom, with whom she’s been seen cozy, as the couple has become a paparazzi favorite.

But what about new music? What about a new tour? The Prismatic World Tour wrapped last October. Katy Perry told Showbiz 411 her plans. The publication caught up with her at the Cannes Film Festival where she was set to perform at the amFAR dinner and where she had been seen with the aforementioned Orlando Bloom.

She said, “I’m touring in 2017.” And when asked about a new album, she said, “I’m working on it.”

Her previous album was full of autobiographical songs referencing her marriage to and divorce from comedian Russell Brand, notably with the quasi-gospel song, ‘By the Grace of God.’ Last year, she opened up about future relationships telling The Daily Telegraph. “I’m excited by whatever it brings. I’m excited by my own evolution, I don’t want to end up bittersweet.”

At the time, she also opened up about her artistic vision, saying, “I have to evolve, I have to continue to push people’s perceptions of me. As an artist I like to do that, keep people on the edge of their seats.”

Earlier this year, she told The New York Times, the album was in the “research and development” phase and went on to say, “I’ve been going at it for eight or nine years in the spotlight, and then before that there’s that decade of hustle that never gets recognized but still shows up in your wrinkles.”

Continuing, she added, “So right now I’m taking a little time. I don’t want to jump on any trends. I just need to evolve.”

She had yet to win a Grammy, despite the 13 nominations, but she’s been for years a pop music mainstay and a marketing and branding success. She’s got 89 million followers on Twitter, 48.9 on Instagram and on 71.4 million Facebook as of this writing. That’s quite a built-in audience primed for music. The pop music world eagerly awaits the evolution!
