Jodie Foster

Yes, surprising as it is, the now 53-year-old Jodie Foster, who got her start as a child star at age three did not have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. To say the very least it’s long, long overdue. From her breakthrough performance in Martin Scorsese’s ‘Taxi Driver’ opposite Robert DeNiro to her Oscar-winning performance in ‘The Accused’ and, now in recent years, her success as a director, she’s achieved legendary stature.

But, as Jodie Foster herself revealed, there’s a reason for this seemingly unconscionable delay. She told Variety, in a rare interview, “I made this conscious decision that I didn’t want to have a star on Hollywood Boulevard unless it was in a conjunction with a movie I was directing.” She went on to say, “I don’t know why that was important to me; it seems silly, but that’s why I waited all these years.”

The ceremony has taken place just days before the world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival of her highly anticipated thriller ‘Money Monster’ starring George Clooney and Julia Roberts. It’s the fourth movie she’s directed — her first since 2011’s ‘The Beaver.’

In the interview, she also reflected upon her long acting career, and said, “I’ve learned that the meaningfulness comes from the actor. It’s your investment, it’s up to you to really take the material and make it deeper. That’s always challenging.”

As for the speakers who were there at the ceremony on the corner of Hollywood Boulevard and Argyle Avenue to honor her for her achievements which quite literally span both her childhood and her adulthood, she had none other than Kristen Stewart who, back in 2002, as her co-star in ‘Panic Room’ was, herself a child, and an unknown, long before the phenomena that was ‘The Twilight Saga.’

Addressing the audience, Stewart reflected upon her experience with Foster on the set of ‘Panic Room’ saying, “Of all the examples that I could have had at such an impressionable age, there’s nothing self-serving about her. She cares about people, she is quite the opposite of the type of person that is gravitated towards being an actress.”

Long awaited, yes, but now a fact, the trailblazing actress and director joins the thousands who have been so honored. You can see photos along with the complete replay video Cbelow, as Jodie foster is honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!
