Naya Rivera Talks 60-Pound Weight Loss after Pregnancy, Reveals Fitness and Diet Secrets

Naya Rivera opened up about her post-baby body weight loss success. The former ‘Glee’ star shed 60 pounds and in a cover story interview for ‘Fit Pregnancy’ reveals the diet and exercise routine that enabled her to accomplish her goal.

The 29-year-old former ‘Glee’ star has undergone a stunning transformation, as evidenced by the cover image for ‘Fit Pregnancy’ as well as her recent red carpet appearances (photos below). She gave birth to her first child, a son, son Josey Hollis Dorsey — with husband, 32-year-old Ryan Dorsey — in September, and she has rapidly regained pre-pregnancy fitness.

In the interview with the magazine, she opens up about what that journey was like, and how she was able to shed 60 pounds so quickly. She begins by admitting that she was unrestricted in her diet. he says, “I completely let myself go when I was pregnant.” She adds, “Weight wasn’t something I wanted to focus on, so I ate anything and everything and had a blast.”

However all of this changed, once she welcome her child into the world. For starters, the publication notes that she gave up “sugary snacks.” She also attributes her amazing results to “nursing, healthy eating, and low-impact exercise.” This is what enabled her to lose the first 30 pounds.

As for the remaining 30, she reveals it was more of a challenge. She tells the publication, “My closet was divided in half: On one side were maternity clothes and on the other side were clothes I thought I would never wear again.”

She also revealed she hired a trainer, saying, ““I know I’m lucky. Not all moms can afford one.”

She went on to say, “But I’m not really self-motivated. And I don’t know what to do at the gym. I always feel lost. [Without a trainer] I’d probably just end up not working out, and then go to the steam room.”

As for the workout routine, she goes on to say, “I did a lot of weight training, which I had never done before…I was wearing maternity gear while working my butt off.” Noting that before her pregnancy, as a long-time dancer, she was in shape, she added, “Muscle memory luckily kicked in.”
