Taylor Swift graces the cover of Vogue magazine and opens up on a variety of topics including her boyfriend, Calvin Harris, Kanye West, her future plans and new music and much more. Plus, the photo spread is absolutely stunning!
Yes, Taylor Swift, who has conquered the pop music world has also been gracing the covers of quite a string of iconic magazines including Vanity Fair and, most recently for the first time ever, GQ. In this day and age when magazines are most often delivered online on iPads and such, it’s still an honor, as these covers go viral.
That’s certainly the case here, as not only is Taylor Swift absolutely alluring in the slinky metallic outfit — all the more dramatic against the bright red background — but the magazine couldn’t be more laudatory in their headline, “Pop queen, power broker, hater vanquisher — Taylor Swift’s star has never been brighter.” Yes, that just about covers it!”
Earlier this year she made history as the first female artist to win Album of the Year twice; this year it was for her first-ever pop music album ‘1989,’ which has gone on to worldwide chart-topping success.
She opened up about her Grammys acceptance speech which has been much lauded for the empowering message of encouragement she gave to women. She said of it, “I guess what I wanted to call attention to in my speech at the Grammys was how it’s going to be difficult if you’re a woman who wants to achieve something in her life — no matter what.” The singer notes strangers came up to praise her comments. “Their response was really beautiful. You never know what anyone’s response is going to be. So when it’s good, it’s really nice.”
She even weighs in on that inescapable topic, the 2009 MTV VMAs Kanye West moment, by acknowledging that it is just that, inescapable. She said, “I think the world is so bored with the saga. I don’t want to add anything to it, because then there’s just more.”
She also opened up about her boyfriend, British DJ and producer, Calvin Harris. Recently, as she delivered an acceptance speech at the iHeartRadio Music Awards she gave him a shoutout referring to him by his real name, Adam. She said he is “the most amazing person to come home to when the spotlight went out and the crowds were all gone.”
She told Vogue, “I’m just taking things as they come. I’m in a magical relationship right now. And of course I want it to be ours, and low-key… this is the one thing that’s been mine about my personal life.”
Her future? That’s a looming question now that her 1989 World Tour is over and the album itself has swept numerous awards including the aforementioned history-making Album of the Year at the Gramys.
She told the publication, “I have no idea. This is the first time in ten years that I haven’t known. I just decided that after the past year, with all of the unbelievable things that happened… I decided I was going to live my life a little bit without the pressure on myself to create something… Honestly, I never relax, and I’m excited about being able to relax for the first time in ten years.”
As for new music, she said, “I’m always going to be writing songs. The thing is, with me, I could very well come up with three things in the next two weeks and then jump back into the studio, and all of a sudden the next record is started. That’s an option, too.”
And not least, this being a fashion magazine after all, Taylor Swift also reflects upon her own personal style, saying, “I can look back at an old photo and tell you roughly what year it’s from. Going through different phases is one of my favorite things about fashion. I love how it can mark the passage of time. It’s similar to my songs in that way—it all helps identify where I was at in different points of my life.”
Needless to say, it’s a long interview, and a must read for fans! Fortunately it’s all online. Taylor Swift’s Vogue cover is below; see the full interview here!
