Taylor Swift won the Best Tour Award at the iHeartRadio Music Awards and delivered an emotional acceptance speech, giving a shout out to her “boyfriend Adam,” real name of DJ Calvin Harris. See the photos and the video and get the scoop on this viral moment.
After an exciting night at the Grammy Awards a couple of months ago, which saw her winning Album of the Year for her ‘1989’ album which marked her transition from country-pop to pop music, Taylor Swift is winning awards yet again, and making speeches that people want to know about.
This time around it was the iHeartRadio Awards in Los Angeles that saw fellow music superstar Justin Timberlake deliver an epic introduction for her award for the 1989 World Tour which took her to six continents and more than 80 cities around the world.
In her acceptance speech, she began by paying tribute to her stellar lineup of fellow music artists who made guest appearances with her on stage, saying, “I think that one of my favorite things about this tour was the camaraderie I felt between all the artists that came out. I want to start by thanking Justin Timberlake for the example that he has set for all of us in this room.”
She went on to say, “There’s so many artists — there were 48 different artists — that came out and surprised my crowds on the 1989 World Tour. A lot are here tonight: Jason Derulo, Fetty Wap, Wiz Khalifa, Serayah, Selena Gomez, Nick Jonas, just to name a few. I’m so thankful for everyone that came out to surprise my crowds on the tour.”
And she offered words of gratitude to the fans who turned out for her live concerts, saying, “And to my crowds you made it worth surprising you and going the extra mile, ’cause you’re so amazing.”
She then went on to give a touching shout out to British DJ Calvin Harris (real name: Adam Wiles) who she is currently dating and who was present in the audience. She said, “You know, for the first time, I had the most amazing person to come home to when the spotlight went out and the crowds were all gone. So I want to thank my boyfriend Adam for that.”
Calvin Harris, incidentally, also received an award that night; Dance Artist of the Year. Yes, a banner year thus far for Taylor Swift, and for this music power couple. For his part, Harris recently acknowledged his relationship with the superstar, in a radio interview, saying he was “insanely happy” with her.
It was just a couple months ago, under very different circumstances, that she took to the stage and make music history as the first woman to win the Grammy Album of the Year Award twice. That was a time and a place for a message of empowerment which she did deliver. Not least, she had some business at hand, so to speak.
She responded with gracefulness to Kanye West’s disparaging lyric about her in his song ‘Famous’ from his album ‘The Life of Pablo,’ and at the time, she spoke of people who “will try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame” and went on to offer her words of advice to “just focus on the work and don’t let those people sidetrack you.”
We can safely observe that the music superstar has been following her own advice. You can see photos along with the video of Taylor Swift’s iHeartRadio Music Award acceptance speech below!
