Melissa McCarthy was stunning in all-white on the red carpet, revealing her weight loss success at the premiere of ‘The Boss.’ She wore a beautiful two-piece ensemble from her own design collection, and you can see the photos and video that are going viral right here.
Once again, the 45-year-old Hollywood star who’s conquered both the small screen and the silver screen — yes from ‘Mike & Molly to the ‘Ghostbusters’ reboot no less! — is front and center in a starring role in ‘The Boss’ which she co-wrote with her husband Ben Falcone, who also directed the movie. He was present with her at the premiere in Los Angeles at the Regency Village Theatre which drew out numerous co-stars and celebrities.
Melissa McCarthy made a dramatic fashion statement wearing all white, going against any notions that women should avoid such light colors if they are, let’s say of a certain size. That’s been the story of late, defying all kinds of norms and expectations. And while yes, she has lost weight, the fact remains she rose to fame not by dieting down to some impossibly skinny standard, but being her authentic self and thankfully her talent has been recognized and immensely rewarded.
As for that gorgeous white blouse and matching maxi skirt, reportedly it’s from her own fashion line, Seven7 although this has not been confirmed.
It would be in keeping with her past red carpet appearances in which she’s taken the opportunity to showcase her own designs.
The fashion line Seven7, which she launched last year, celebrates women of all sizes — specifically sizes 4 to 28; quite an impressive and ambitious range — and has revealed previously that was a lifelong ambition. She told People, “From grade school until age 20, I had one thought in my head, which was doing women’s clothing. To get to come back to it, is kind of crazy. It’s pretty dreamy.”
Both careers are now in tandem as she conquers the box office and the apparel industry simultaneously, and all on her own terms.
In an interview with Refinery29, when asked if she considers herself a role model, she said, “I know I am not the ‘norm.’ It never occurs to me in terms of being a role model, though, because I don’t know any perfect women. If I, off the top of my head, name 20 of the most amazing women in my life, it’s all shapes, sizes, ages, colors, jobs.”
She added, “I want to get rid of constantly categorizing. Lists give somebody a way to shove and tear down women. Those women that are always shown, that we’re all supposed to be like, is like .000009% of human beings. That’s crazy.”
And that’s been the crux of her appeal, of standing out from the “norm” as she herself has said. It’s that refreshing authenticity amidst a Botox- and Photoshop-driven celebrity world. Below you can check out the video and photos of Melissa McCarthy at ‘The Boss’ red carpet premiere in Los Angeles!
