Oprah Winfrey graces the cover of her O magazine revealing her weight loss success, thanks to Weight Watchers. She shares the cover with nine other women who are all celebrating their dieting victories along with her. It’s drawing much notice not just to the billionaire lifestyle mogul herself but giving the company a nod as well.
The original story nearly a year ago saw Oprah Winfrey saving Weight Watchers as she became a stakeholder, owning 10 percent of the company, and the stock soared and although her initial 15-pounds weight loss was notable, what really drove headlines was how much she gained; $45 million dollars. Yes, a heavier wallet.
As months have gone by, the story has been alternately making headlines in financial publications as Weight Watchers stock has been going down, yet all the wile Oprah Winfrey has continued to lose weight.
Now we have this celebratory O magazine cover. It’s a first. Over the years, Oprah has rarely shared the cover of her magazine with anyone, let alone nine other women who aren’t even famous.
Entertainment Tonight that gave the world the first reveal of the cover which you can see below. In the behind-the-scenes video, also below, Oprah Winfrey says, “It was my idea to share the cover with other women who are on the same journey as I am.” She adds that these are women clip. “who want to lose weight and who want to make health their priority.”
It’s destined to become one of those iconic magazine covers, and it’s already gone viral. The women range in age from 15to 49 — that much-coveted marketing demographic, in other words — and they are of all shapes, sizes and ethnic backgrounds. All of them at various checkpoints in their own weight loss journey. It’s a refreshing change, too, from the typical celebrity in bikini showing off killer abs. Or conversely, the before and after selfies that we see these days in social media.
There are plenty of inside photos, too, some of which you can see below, which again offer a contrast from the norm we’ve become used to. Yes, weight loss is indeed a journey, as Oprah Winfrey herself described in her initial commercial for Weight Watchers as she opened up about the emotional struggles she has faced over the years. These are struggles common to countless numbers.
As for Weight Watchers the company, it’s still looking to gain, and according to reports, the stock has actually gone up since the O magazine cover debuted. So our tandem stories of losing and gaining continue.
