Kaley Cuoco opened up about divorcing Ryan Sweeting. The ‘Big Bang Theory’ star had a mock wedding ceremony on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres’ show before the real ceremony and she returned to the show, two years later to discuss the highly publicized split from her pro tennis player husband.
The 29-year-old Kaley Cuoco had a whirlwind romance — getting engaged just three months after dating. And, for all the world to see, she and 27-year-old Ryan Sweeting had a mock wedding officiated by the program’s head writer, and it became a viral video sensation. She had met him soon after her split from ‘Man of Steel’ star Henry Cavill.
She told Ellen DeGeneres at that time, “I know it looks a little crazy to some people. By day two I was like, ‘Oh, my God.’ It was so unbelievable. I said, ‘This is it, this is it.'” And for a time, it was just that. Not long after, she posted real photos and video of the real wedding on Instgram. The couple had a romantic wedding in on New Year’s Eve of 2013 with a star-studded wedding which saw her in a pink Vera Wang gown.
This time around, she confirmed that the divorce was not yet finalized, saying, “‘Yes, I’m getting divorced. You know, last year was very bizarre and we all go through really weird ups and downs. And sometimes I’m a little bit more seen. And everyone goes through that stuff.”
Kaley Cuoco went on to say, “You know, so I already feel like 2016 is going to be a much better year than 2015. And you know, it’s been rough, but things are going good. I’m much, much better now. I’m in a much better place than I was.”
She didn’t address any of the rampant rumors about the split, and, as is typical, there have been many. She is the one who filed for the divorce last September just 21 months after her wedding day.
She said of that short-lived marriage, “I had the date tattooed on my back and everything to remind me.”
Wearing a backless shirt, she was able to show the audience and the world her new tattoo which replaces it. She said, “I had to cover it, I had to cover it with the wings.
When asked if there was any significance to picking a moth, she said it was “because, it was big enough to cover the numbers; big wings. Silence, quiet, on a wall. You know how they do that? They’re like stationary.” She went on to say, “It’s just what I picked out when I was there.”
