David Duchovny opened up about ‘The X-Files’ mini-series which saw him and his co-star Gillian Anderson reprise their iconic roles as Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, respectively. He also shared his thoughts on future episodes of the show during his lively interview on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show.’
It’s been a nostalgic ride back in time as the iconic TV series was revived for a six-episode mini-series, marking the first time on the air on Fox since 2002. Thankfully, the show did return, and with both original actors reprising their roles, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson. Thankfully it was not so long ago that we had to have a “next generation” with actors portraying the Fox and Mulder as their younger selves or anything such. All the more so as it’s always been the intense chemistry between the two that has drawn in fans as much as the intriguing subject matter of government cover-ups and conspiracies and extraterrestrial life.
With creator Chris Carter back at the helm once again, the show was back on the small screen having weathered time and two big-screen adaptations; The X-Files: Fight The Future, released in 1998 and The X-Files: I Want To Believe of 2008. And And week after week, the ratings have been consistently high.
And, how quickly it’s gone by! In advance of the season finale, David Duchovny spoke with Ellen DeGeneres about the much anticipated revival, the mini-series that is speedily coming to an end.
The night before his interviewed aired on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show,’ he Tweeted a cryptic message, saying, of the upcoming finale, “In X files, as in life, seems the more answers we get, the more questions we have. Agree? Happy season finale, thanks for being there 2moro.”
And speaking of questions, of course this begs the mother of all questions, have we seen the last of The X-Files on television or not? And, in answer to that question, he said, “I would love to. I think we all would. We’ll just see what happens.”
As for what it was like to return to the role after all these years and to be reunited with his costar Gillian Anderson, he said, “Of all the things that have changed and the work that’s come in between, when were doing the show this time around, it just felt like the old show.”
And that was that. The mystery remains! David Duchovny in recent years, along with acting — notably all those years as Hank Moody in ‘Californication’ — has also furthered his music career, releasing his debut album, ‘Hell or Highwater.’ While on the show, he also poke about home and family life, and of navigating his way through the mystery of teenage slang.
