Gal Gadot in ‘Wonder Woman’ Movie: First Official Footage (Video)

January 20, 2016

It’s our first look at the new ‘Wonder Woman’ movie with Gal Gadot as the Amazonian warrior and Chris Pine as her love interest, Steve Trevor. The video footage, which you can see below, has quickly become a viral sensation, as we await the first ever movie of the iconic DC comic heroine.

It’s long overdue, but finally we’re not so far away from Wonder Woman on the big screen for the first time ever, in all the decades that the DC Comic universe character has been with us. But now, thanks to Warner Bros. Pictures and producers Charles Roven, Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder we finally will see her in IMAX glory.

Our first look comes via a television special on CW, “Dawn of the Justice League.” Both the director of the movie, Kevin Smith and Geoff Johns, the Chief Creative Officer at DC Comics were on hand to preview the footage. Johns spoke about the intent to reveal Wonder Woman’s origins, saying that the movie will “really tell people who she is, where she comes from and why she does what she does.”

He goes on to say, “She’s an Amazon warrior. She’s the best fighter in the DC universe. She has strength and speed and she’s been training her whole life for war.”

And, yes, the film footage reveals she’s quite fierce and handy with a sword.

We’ve seen the still photos of the 30-year-old Israeli model and actress Gal Gadot in full costume, now we glimpse her in action. She is familiar to many for her role as Gisele Harabo in the ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise. When her casting was announced a couple of years ago, she received a mixed reaction on social media, but as time moves on, anticipation has eclipsed disapproval and scorn.

In the clip, she says of the character, “We’re going to see her coming of age; the entire history. What’s her mission.”

The director Patty Jenkins says, “The greatest thing about Wonder Woman is how good and kind and loving she is, yet none of that negates any of her power.”

The footage we’re now seeing give away very little about the plot, but confirm the World War I setting. There’s the dark, foreboding movie, and the fast cuts from scene to scene. And, until we see the first official trailer, that’s all that we get!

The much anticipated movie also stars Elena Anaya, Ewen Bremner, Lucy Davis, Danny Huston, Saïd Taghmaoui, David Thewlis, and Robin Wright and is due out on June 23, 2017. But for now we do have a glimpse of Wonder Woman and alter ego Diana Prince and her love interest Steve Trevor and you can see the video below!
