Taylor Swift’s 1989 World Tour wrapped in Melbourne, Australia and you can see the video highlights, photos, the full set-list and a roundup of recaps and reviews from music critics right here. Social media is buzzing with this, the final night of a months long tour that’s reached dozens of cities and millions of fans.
After its exciting beginning in Tokyo, Taylor Swift’s ‘1989 World Tour’ is over, with the last of three concerts at AAMI Park in Melbourne. Months of surprises and special guests and a full set-list of career spanning hits marked her first ever world tour as a pop music superstar. All previous tours, including the ‘Red Tour’ saw her adhering to her country music roots, as a “country pop” star who, of course, was frequently crossing over and dominating the singles charts in the U.S. and all over the world.
Yes, in the end, fans embraced the new incarnation and now after more than a year, it’s easy to forget that she got her start in Nashville.
But perhaps what will be most remembered is the extensive guest list of public figures, fellow music artists, sports figures, supermodels and celebrities. To name just a few of the dozens of luminaries who graced the stage with her we must mention the U.S. Women’s Soccer team right after their World Cup victory. And the list is staggering, including Alanis Morissette, The Weeknd, Justin Timberlake, Ed Sheeran, Lorde, Nick Jonas, Fetty Wap, Jason Derulo, Little Big Town, Rachel Platten and many, many others. And there were quite a few surprises including the likes of Ellen DeGeneres, Joan Baez, Julia Roberts Hailee Steinfeld, and Lena Dunham.
But in the end, it was about the music and the magnetism and the influence of a major figure in the entertainment world who could bring so many to the stage, and have fans squealing in excitement in major arenas, and sharing pictures and video in untold numbers of social media. And in an era of pop music stars who push the envelop with costumes and dance moves that cry for a mature audience rating, Taylor Swift has always kept it family friendly.
After the last show, Taylor Swift Tweeted to her 67 million followers (yes, a bigger following that many of the nations on this earth!): “The 1989 World Tour is officially over, the most beautiful chapter in our story so far.. Thanks to you.”
