Daisy Ridley and John Boyega open up about what it was like to see ‘Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens’ for the first time. It’s the long-awaited installment in the iconic franchise that’s brought these two newcomers to international stardom and in a live television interview, they speak of that sudden fame and more.

To say there’s much anticipation for this seventh movie in the legendary ‘Star Wars’ franchise is an understatement. Shockingly in this era of social media and Internet, the movie has not leaked, the script has not leaked, and even the rumors appear to be just that, rumors.

So every possible tidbit about the JJ Abrams-directed ‘Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens” is eagerly awaited. We got two movie reviewers who, naturally, we hope are a bit bias. But their opinions and their takeaways from the movie are, in lieu of factual plot details, at the very least part of the mystique.

Yes, the newcomers, Daisy Ridley and John Boyega made an appearance at the GMA Times Square Studio and spoke with co-anchor Robin Roberts.

First on the agenda was not any behind-the-scenes on-the-set anecdotes. It was, what did they think of the movie! And yes, both shared their thoughts on the movie which they have now seen.

John Boyega said, “It’s so good. It is so good. This is a great reminder that “Star wars” is back after so long and this is just a great balance between the new generation and the old full of action, full of passion and it’s quite emotional. I enjoyed it.”

For her part, Daisy Ridley, who also made her feature film debut in the movie, revealed it was quite an emotional experience. She said, “The first time I’ve seen myself do something so I was quite overwhelmed so looking forward to seeing it again so I can be like, okay.”

Asked to confirmed if she had cried afterwards on the way to the airport, she said, “I did. No, because I came out and I was like, yeah, I’m cool and in the car I was like — the whole way and the whole way home the ten-hour journey.”

She was asked about what it might mean for young girls and she said, “It’s really exciting. The way I think about it if I had a little sister I would be so pleased for her to see the film and think — I mean, we were just talking about Jennifer Lawrence, the katniss everdeen thing has been so Progressive for the female audience. Way cooler. Nice to continue that thing.”

Yes, Ridley’s role is much anticipated, as she is the heroine, a scavenger named Rey, and truthfully not much else is known but the ‘Hunger Games’ and Katniss parallel abounds and confirm that at the very least, Star Wars is getting a bit of a YA refurbishment.

John Boyega’s character, Finn, a First Order stormtrooper, is a mystery still. He went on to reveal some of the measures the studio took, and they are quite staggering. He opened up about the audition process, saying, “It’s so messed up. During auditioning they would have you come to Pinewood Studios to learn your lines, and then you’d have to go home, trying to trace back what you learned. And most of the time it just went out of my head.”

He went on to say, “And I bottled it during the audition. Still booked it though!”

Yes, and from there, a fast ticket to stardom! In a matter of days, we’ll move from speculating to critiquing and dissecting. But in the mean time, we can see what have to say about ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens” — video is below!
