Elizabeth Banks

Yes, hard to believe it’s all about to end. We’ve seen the 41-year-old Elizabeth Banks in every single movie of the immensely popular franchise, based on the trilogy of novels by Suzanne Collins. Now, in ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2,’ she will be seen for the last time as Effie Trinkett alongside her co-stars, Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth, respectively as Katniss Everdeen, Peeta Mellark and Gale Hawthorne.

Yes, from bestselling novels to box office juggernaut to pop cultural phenomena, it’s now the last hurrah for the series as it lives on in digital perpetuity in a variety of formats that somehow don’t have the scope and grandeur of the movie theater.

In an interview with ABC News’ Rachel Smith, broadcast on Good Morning America, Banks reflected upon the experience saying, “It’s remarkable. A walk down memory lane, for sure. Eyes bright. Chins up. Smiles on.”

She went on to say, “The films were a departure. Effie was M.I.A. I think after ‘Catching Fire,’ people realized Effie was a fan favorite. She had a connection with Hatniss that you couldn’t see in the books.

She also was asked to reflect on some of the characteristics of Effie. Asked if she thought the character would ever be on social media she said, “High odds. She understands the power of a great media presence.”

Asked if she’ll miss the character, Banks said, “I loved her. I’ll miss her very much. There’s a lot of creativity within Effie. I’ll miss that for sure. History was made here.”

Not that it’s the last we’ll see of Elizabeth Banks quite the contrary. In front of the camera as well as behind the camera — with her directorial debut with ‘Pitch Perfect 2′ — and so, even as the franchise ends, for Banks herself, so much more awaits in the cinematic world beyond the YA dystopia.

But first, we have the international rollout of the movie and Elizabeth Banks stunned on the red carpet in a dramatic, sparking striped floor-length gown by Dolce & Gabbana at the ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2′ Los Angeles premiere. See the interview video and the pics below!
