Ellie Goulding Covers Shape, Reveals Diet Tips and Workout Routine

Ellie Goulding graces the cover of Shape magazine and opens up about her daily diet and her rigorous workout routine. The British pop music superstar reveals impressive six-pack abs and she shares her thoughts about weight loss and staying fit and toned and how it has changed her life for the better.

Ellie Goulding is in the news for the release of her third album, ‘Delirium’ and for her stunning performance at this year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion show, but her passion for fitness and diet has also drawn headlines. And it’s no surprise that she would find herself on the cover of ‘Shape’ magazine, and giving an interview that’s as inspiring as it is revealing.

Yes, there’s no quick fix here. Goulding is a fitness devotee and willing to put in the hard work. We should not be surprised if she ventures further in that direction. As of now she’s a brand ambassador for Nike, has designed a workout for the company and yes, the embodiment of the iconic slogan, ‘Just Do It.’

She told Shape magazine, ““My goal always is to get stronger,” adding, “I want to be strong and ready for anything.”

And lest anyone think it’s a pursue of the perfect figure by societal standards these days, she clarified, saying, ““If getting stronger means getting more toned and slimmer, so be it, as long as strength comes with it. I’m happy with my figure. I’ve never intended or tried to be skinny. It’s my not thing.”

She also opened up about her diet, and said, “I call myself an aspiring vegan. It’s challenging, but not impossible. You just have to eat or drink a lot of greens.”

She went on to describe her daily diet and said, “Y I make green juice for myself almost every day. I put in things like bananas, avocado, spinach, broccoli—whatever’s in my fridge, really. Sweet-potato fries and salad is my absolute favorite thing. It’s the perfect meal. I eat a lot of quinoa and nuts too, but I also love eating chips. It’s actually easy to be a bad vegan because a lot of junk foods are vegan!”

She also expressed her enthusiasm for working out, saying, “When I’m not on the road, my trainer comes to my house a few times a week and we go for a run outdoors and then do weight training. Or I go to his Barry’s Bootcamp class.”

She went on to describe the class noting that it’s comprised of running and weight-and-floor work in equal measure, and she touted the benefits, saying, it’s “really good for endurance, and it keeps me super focused.” Continuing, she also spoke about the other class she takes, saying, it’s “45 minutes of HIIT training, which is by far the hardest thing I’ve ever done.”

For those not familiar with fitness parlance, that’s High Intensity Interval Training which pretty much sums it up; it’s demanding, but the rewards of fitness and fat burning are well worth it.

Goulding said of the class, “I come out of there feeling like something big just happened to my body, and I’m completely drained. Of all the workouts I’ve done, this has been the best for me.”
