Harrison Ford wore costume and became a dog wearing a hot dog costume as he opened up about the plane crash he survived and also talked about ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Yes, it was Halloween, and he was talking with none other than Jimmy Kimmel who happened to be wearing a Princess Leia costume.
It was Halloween, Jimmy Kimmel Live style, and the iconic actor of ‘Star Wars,’ ‘Indiana Jones,’ ‘Bladerunner’ and more has given us yet another indelible images; himself in a hot dog suit with mustard no less. Given the wide range of his movie roles, some of which, of course, have been literally out of this world, how else to top all that but with a mundane albeit iconc food.
And yet, in the midst of all the Halloween merriment, and the typical late-night television banter, Harrison Ford, did open up about a very sobering topic, namely his plane crash earlier this year.
He said of the crash landing of the plane he was piloting, “I remember some of it. I remember the engine stopping, I remember that part very well.”
He went on to say, “I remember telling the tower what I was going to do and I remember their suggestion was that I take the normal route to land and I knew that I wasn’t going to do that, so I said no.”
Continuing, he said, “And that’s the last ting I remember until five days afterwards. I’m told by the doctors that the amount of general anesthetic that I received gave me retrograde amnesia.”
Jimmy Kimmel said, “That kind of thing happens in movies.” Which, of course is true, and quite coincidentally, Harrison Ford once portrayed an amnesiac, in the movie, ‘Regarding Henry.”
He merely replied, “This was not a movie.”
And yes, along with Halloween, and the very serious discussion, there is, of course, that huge movie to promote, the reboot of the franchise, ”Star Wars: The Force Awakens.’ As our Hans Solo since the very first movie of what’s become a decades long franchise, he was certainly not going to be the one to let any plot details slip even if he was oddly attired.
At one point, he said, “I’m a dog in a hot dog suit,” and, like a good Thespian he proceeded to bark.
He said of the new movie, ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” “It is really, really good.” In elaborating, he said, “Trust me…you will not be disappointed at all, I promise you.”
Asked to pick his favorite between directors George Lucas and JJ Abrams, he said, “‘I love them both,” and went on to say, “George has been amazing to me, he’s been the author of the early chapters of my life and given me the opportunity to have a really extraordinary life and JJ has given me a part in a really wonderful movie.”
It was quite an interview, and no description — even with quotes — does it justice. It must bee seen. Watch Harrison Ford talk about the plane crash and ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ all while being a dog in a hot dog costume on Halloween below!
