Gwen Stefani debuted a new song, ‘Used to Love You,’ in a live concert and you can see the video here. The No Doubt frontwoman, who recently split from her husband, Gavin Rossdale, introduced it as a song that is “really special.”
The 46-year-old music superstar, currently a coach on NBC’s The Voice, debuted the song during her live concert in New York City at Hammerstein Ballroom, as part of the MasterCard Priceless Surprises series.
As she introduced the song before the live audience, she said, “I just want to share a song that I wrote recently. This song is really special.”
With that introduction and with such lines as “I thought I was the best thing that ever happened to you,” Stefani seemingly confirmed the subject matter of the song. At the very least has sparked much speculation.
She and her husband, the 49-year-old Gavin Rossdale, frontman of the rock band Bush, shocked the entertainment world when they announced their split after 13 years of marriage and, from outward appearances, one of those notable longtime celebrity couples. They have three sons together, nine-year-old Kingston, seven-year-old Zuma, and 19-month-old Apollo.
According to People magazine, the new song was by veteran hitmaker producer J.R. Rotem (‘Better in Time,’ Leona Lewis, ‘SOS,’ Rihanna, ‘Whatcha Say,’ Jason Derulo). The new song is from Gwen Stefani’s highly anticipated, upcoming third solo album, as yet untitled.
And in recent days, there’s been speculation not just about Gwen Stefani’s new album and her new music but also the usual rumors of who she might be dating. She and fellow coach on NBC’s The Voice, the recently-divorced Blake Shelton, found themselves the focus of such rumors.
In fact, right before her live concert, she denied these rumors and said to Entertainment Tonight, “It seems like the cowboy is really happy on the show.” She added, “We’re all having so much fun on that show. Everybody is in such a good place.”
She also told the celebrity outlet how her music is helping her move forward; she said, “The biggest gift has been to be able to take some tragedy and write a song about it and share that.” She continued, saying, “The rewards that I’ve gotten through that is just unbelievable.”
