Mel B talked about the 20th anniversary of the Spice Girls, the iconic 1990s British girl group of which she, as Scary Spice, was once a member. She dropped hints of a possible reunion for the milestone anniversary during a live appearance on the Today Show, and she reminisced about those long-ago days.
Yes, the 40-year-old Mel B dropped some tantalizing hints during her live appearance on the Today Show with the co-anchors Tamron Hall, Al Roker, and Natalie Morales.
For those old enough to remember she was not always just an ‘America’s Got Talent’ judge. She was once Scary Spice of the Spice Girls. Long before the days Victoria Beckham found fame as a fashion designer and the wife of David Beckham, the Spice Girls were the Fifth Harmony of their day. Rounding out the lineup were Emma Bunton and Geri Halliwell.
And shocking they got their start 20 years ago and have left us with such iconic hits as ‘Say You’ll Be There,’ ‘Wannabe’ and ‘Spice Up Your Life.’
Yes, Time marches on. Mel B reflected, during her live interview, saying, ‘I’ve got so many great memories. I got to tour the world with four of my best friends. Even today, we all still support each other.”
Reunion in the works? To that, she said, “You know, when you say it’s our 20th anniversary coming up, it does make you think, ‘Oh, my Gosh! It really has been that long. Hopefully, you know, we’ll gather the troops around and we’ll get to do something to celebrate it next year.”
We’ve seen many such reunions over the years so who knows? ‘Nsync surprised us with their onstage reunion at the 2013 MTV Music Video Awards. Perhaps sometime this year we’ll be surprised yet again.
