Naomi Watts opens up about aging and how she is coping with it. The Australian actress also shares some of her beauty secrets and fitness routine and talks about having been recently named a spokesperson for L’Oreal Paris.
The 46-year-old British born Australian actress has been had a long career dating back to the mid-1980s and many of her newest fans know her for her role in the Divergent movie franchise.
Decade after decade she’s graced the small screen and the silver screen in Australia and worldwide. As she’s reaching that age that, most outrageously, makes finding work a challenge for women in Hollywood, she’ll be seen in no less than four movies in the coming months. And they’re not fluff, either. She’ll star in ‘Three Generations’ opposite Susan Sarandon, Demolition with Jake Gyllenhaal, Shut In with Oliver Platt. And of course, not least, the highly anticipated new installment of the ‘Divergent’ franchise, ‘Allegiant.’
In her interview with The Sunday Telegraph in Australia, Naomi Watts talked about her experience of growing older in the public eye, saying, “Ageing gracefully is all about being at peace with the natural progression of life. Although at times it feels like an uphill battle.”
She also spoke about being named a spokesperson for a L’Oreal Paris, and as such the latest Hollywood star to do so alongside the likes of Jane Fonda and Blake Lively.
She said, “I’m deeply honoured and extremely flattered to be part of an already incredible team.” She went on to add, “To be honest, I never thought my skin would be the kind of skin that would feature in an ad!”
Well, that naturally was the perfect segue for a discussion of her own skin care regimen. She said of it, “As a working mother my routine has to be simple enough that I can get on with my day. I have fair skin so I always have an SPF 50+ in my handbag.”
She went on to speak of her general fitness and health routines, and said, “I drink plenty of water and sleep and exercise is very important to me.” She added, ” “I practice yoga and pilates and I’m also a fan of cardio dance classes. It’s good fun.”
The newspaper also notes that she gets her eyelashes and eyebrows tinted. She explained, saying, ““I got that tip from a make-up artist years ago.”
She did not get into a discussion on plastic surgery, Botox, fillers and injections, which are often the typical subjects in such an interview. We’ve heard from a few actresses who resoundingly insist they will never have any cosmetic or surgical enhancement, but at least, this time around, Naomi Watts didn’t weigh in on the topic. Well, there’s always the next interview and we’ll be on the lookout.
