The 25-year-old Kristen Stewart has gone on to a rising film career since ‘The Twilight Saga,’ starring in ‘Clouds of Sils Maria’ and ‘American Ultra’ among other critically acclaimed movies in. She’s now filming Ang Lee’s ‘Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk’ a highly anticipated military drama. For Stewart the actress life, thankfully, has gone on.

But she is still dogged by the past, and as such, was willing to open up about it in her Marie Claire interview. She did become famous at a young age and she said of it, “Between ages 15 and 20, it was really intense. I was constantly anxious. I was kind of a control freak. If I didn’t know how something was going to turn out, I would make myself ill, or just be locked up or inhibited in a way that was really debilitating.”

Although she made no direct reference to her affair with ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ director Rupert Sanders her comments have reopened the discussion. Most especially when she said, I lit my universe on fire and I watched it burn.” She went on to say, “Speaking very candidly, it was a really traumatic period in my early 20s that kick-started something in me that was a bit more feral.”

As we all remember, once the affair was made public, it led to enormous backlash from fans, not to mention the dissolution of her relationship with her boyfriend and ‘Twilight Saga’ co-star Robert Pattinson. But this was not the tell-all kind of interview naming, names for those who were looking for such.

Stewart went on to speak of how she is now moving forward with her life, and said, “I’m really proud that I am able to move forward and not fall into every mental crater. That’s a new thing for me. Age has made me smarter and calmer. And it is f–king awesome.”

She even spoke on how she believes her new short haircut has helped her to move forward. She said, My hair was such a crutch. I looked quote unquote ‘sexy’ no matter what. I could hide behind it. As soon as I didn’t have all that hair, I had to let my face hang out. I felt more confident than I had in a really long time. And it felt really good.”

Yes, indeed. She has gone from teens to mid-20s in the public eye which is no small feat for celebrities in this social media age!
