The full-length ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ trailer had its premiere at Comic-Con and it’s no teaser. Clocking in at more than three months, the extended sneak peak at the much anticipated Zack Snyder superhero movie with Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill as the title characters has caused a major sensation.
‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ quickly took over social media as it did San Diego’s Comic-Con. Everywhere you go, from Twitter to Facebook to Instagram, you are immediately submerged in the DC Batman vs. Superman universe. Previously the movie rolled out its first trailer not online, but at special screenings at IMAX theaters.
Zack Snyder’s highly anticipated movie was naturally a sensation at Comic-Con, as fans gathered to see what the studio deemed they were entitled to see, this far in advance of the movie’s release early next year. The trailer clocks in at three minutes and 40 seconds. It may whip by quickly, but it’s a much-welcomed eyeful. With ponderous orchestral music and many apocalyptic scenes of mayhem, it’s got a decidedly dark tone.
Ben Affleck is making his debut as Batman and Henry Cavill is returning to the role of Superman for the second time, having debuted in ‘Man of Steel.’ We see much more of the latter than the former in the trailer. The spotlight lately has been on Affleck especially now with reports that he is to star in a standalone Batman movie and serve also as writer and director.
And also, much anticipated, this new trailer gives us a look at Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. It’s not just the actress, the iconic character herself, shockingly, is only now making a big-screen debut in this era that’s gone top-heavy with superhero movie franchises. After all the backlash about Gadot being somehow not the right actress for the part, perhaps critics will be silenced. Some of them, at least. That is the upside of low expectations, and she’s far exceeded them.
It’s an epic cast for what is slated to be an epic movie. All in one movie, certainly upping the ante of superhero franchise ensemble casts we also have Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor.
We have a long wait ahead of us; the movie opens in theaters on March 25, 2016 so we are fortunate to see this much! Watch the official full-length ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ trailer from Comic-Con below!
